What is peace silk ?
AT STILBAAR, WE LOVE TO HIGHLIGHT MULTIPLE WAYS TO MAKE FASHION AND BEAUTY MORE SUSTAINABLE. TODAY, WE ARE TELLING YOU ABOUT PEACE SILK, AN ANIMAL FRIENDLY NATURAL MATERIAL.
A natural material
As a natural material, silk has many qualities. It is resistant, thermo-insulant and one of the softest fabrics in the world. Due to its delicacy, silk can also be used for highly sensitive skins. As you might know, peace is obtained thanks to worms, whose cocoons are harvested to turn their fibers into clothing, sheets… The sad thing is, worms usually aren’t given time to go out of their cocoon and are boiled alive.
Ashima Silk
This is where Peace Silk comes in, to make a sustainable material even more ethical by being animal-friendly. Grown in India with a slow process, Peace Silk allows worms to grow and leave their cocoons before they are harvested. It can also be certified Global Organic Textile Standard, meaning no chemicals were involved in its creation. This is why we love collaborating with brands using Peace Silk for their designs.
Peace Silk at Stilbaar
Pure One, a brand creating romantic and timeless designs, often uses Peace Silk for their glamorous clothing. As you can see, this silk glows as much as regular silk, and perfectly follows the shapes of the body for a sensation of comfort and effortless sexyness.
Another Peace Silk user is Olistic The Label. The luxury Parisian house offers Haute Couture craftsmanship combined with the most sustainable materials in the fashion industry. Olistic perfectly embodies Stilbaar’s vision of luxury : well-made garments that respect the planet and its inhabitants.
And if you really enjoy the softness of silk but prefer to shop circular materials, ethical brand Methrora only uses upcycled silk from ancient productions !
